Sometimes slow, respectful touch brings emotion to the surface. Tears, trembling, quietness, or tenderness can appear without warning.
The giver's role is not to analyze the emotion. It is to stay calm, listen, and respect what the receiver wants next.
Do not make it about you
Avoid asking for reassurance or trying to prove you did nothing wrong. Emotional release is not automatically a problem.
Ask whether she wants touch to continue, pause, or stop.
Use stillness
A steady hand, a blanket, and quiet breath can be more supportive than many words.
If she wants space, give space without withdrawal or disappointment.
Know the limits
This is not trauma treatment. If strong distress or trauma material is active, professional support may be the safer container.
Consent and wellbeing remain more important than completing the session.
